The Helix Dance Project, founded in 2003 by Artistic Director Linda Garneau, hit the stage to rave reviews with its first production Integration, produced by Cara Volchoff (Fall '03). Directed and choreographed by Linda Garneau, Integration featured 15 versatile and passionate performers who fused various art forms and served it up with courage and integrity. The company then went on to perform for various festivals and were repeat guest artist on the Toronto 1 show.

HDP's next production, West Side Stories, was performed in October of 2004 and produced by Cara Volchoff. This work was rooted in the works of Romeo and Juliet and West Side Story and followed the lovers beyond death. Performed by a cast of 10 highly talented dancers and artists, each possessing a strong individual voice in their craft. Exciting, moving, emotional and soulful. West Side Stories was enthusiastically received and proved to be another stepping stone for the company.

The 2005 season offered you Hotel...Checking into a sandcastle. The work was based on the analogy of life as a Hotel and the impermanence of it all. Produced by Cara Volchoff with a cast of 7 dynamic women, Hotel was performed at Dancemakers and ushered in a new found maturity for the company. Set to an eclectic mix of music, Hotel offered a glimpse into our nature.

In 2006, we found it necessary to revisit them all, Every Now and Then: Looking Back and Stepping Forward was a collection of excerpts from past Helix Dance Project productions. Once again produced by Cara Volchoff, Every Now and Then garnered great some great reviews.

Helix was founded with the desire to create a new voice in the jazz community and offer work to aspiring and professional dancers.
